Pumpkin Carving Contest and Haunted Trail

The New London Parks and Recreation Department is hosting the 2nd Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest. Carve one of your own pumpkins or pick up a free pumpkin at the Washington Center gym Thursday, Oct. 20 or Friday, Oct. 21 from 3-6 p.m.

All pumpkins must be pre-carved and dropped off at Hatten Park Shelters from Noon-5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct, 26 or Thursday, Oct. 27.

Pumpkins will be judged according to age groups: 12 and under, Teens (13-20), adults (21+), with prizes awarded within each group for: cutest, funniest, scariest and most creative. Pre-register, or register onsite when you drop off your pumpkin. There is no registration fee.

Entries will be displayed on Thursday and Friday at the Haunted Trail in Hatten Park. Judging takes place Friday evening at 8 p.m. At 9 p.m. winners will be announced. Take your pumpkin home with you, if you like, after 10 p.m. Friday evening.

The Haunted Trail is Oct. 27 and 28 with a less scary walk from 7-8 p.m. and the scary walk from 8-10 p.m.

Haunted Trail volunteers needed

The New London Parks and Recreation Department is looking for volunteers for the Haunted Trail to carve pumpkins and be actors or trail guides the nights of the events. Volunteer one night or both nights. The Haunted Trail takes place Oct. 27 and 28 from 7-10 p.m. Adults and youth 14 years and older are encouraged to contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 920-982-8521 with questions.
