First-round volleyball pairings set for state tournament

First-round pairings have been announced for the upcoming WIAA State Volleyball Tournament.

Divisions 2-4 open play Tuesday, Oct. 18, with the subregional round, while Division 1 regional semifinals are scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 20.

Here’s a look at the area’s 11 teams and where they’re headed:

Pulaski (No. 10 seed) at Hortonville (7), 7 p.m.

Waupaca (5) at Freedom (4), 7 p.m.

Clintonville (6) at Shawano (3), 7 p.m.

New London (7) at Fox Valley Lutheran (2), 7 p.m.

Iola-Scandinavia (8) at Oconto (1), 7 p.m.

Brillion (6) at Manawa (3), 7 p.m.

Wild Rose (5) at Weyauwega-Fremont (4), 7 p.m.

Amherst (7) at Stevens Point Pacelli (2), 7 p.m.

Almond-Bancroft (5) at Marion (4), 7 p.m.

First-round winners in divisions 2-4 will advance to regional semifinal matches, scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20. The highest seed will host. Semifinal winners will advance to regional finals, set for 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22,. with the highest seed hosting.

First-round winners in Division 1 will play for a regional championship at 7 p.m. Oct. 22, also with the highest seed hosting.
