Guenther, Leonard

Leonard G. Guenther, age 88 of Ogdensburg, died at his home on October 23, 2011. Leonard was born on March 5, 1923, in Sugar Bush, Wisconsin to the late August and Hulda (nee Wollenberg) Guenther. In 1962 he married Yvonne Schuelke and dairy farmed with her his entire life on the family homestead in Ogdensburg. He was a life long member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manawa. Leonard is survived by his wife of 49 years, Yvonne; three sons, Brian Guenther of Symco, Quint and Colin Guenther both of Ogdensburg; brothers, Earl (Mary) Guenther of Greenville, Carl (Irene) Guenther of San Jose, CA, and Lloyd (Joyce) Guenther of Manitowoc; and sisters, Erma Stevenson of Clintonville and Louise (Dr. Joseph) Chung of Barrington, IL. He is further survived by a brother-in-law; four sisters-in-law; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, August and Hulda Guenther; one sister; four brothers; and three nephews. A funeral service for Leonard will be held at 11:00 a.m. today, Thursday, October 27, 2011, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manawa with Pastor Vilas Mazemke officiating. Family and friends may call directly at the church Thursday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Little Wolf Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church. The family would like to thank the ThedaCare Hospice staff, as they were special to Leonard and the family.
