Reinke, James Walter

James Walter Reinke passed away August 16, 2011 at the Veterans Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. James was born on January 18, 1944 in Superior, WI to Walter and Virginia Reinke of Brule, WI. He lived in Brule until graduating from Northwestern High School in 1962, and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served as a radioman with offices in London and on three different destroyers. He served thru the Vietnam War. He then worked for Sprint in Olathe, KA, lived in Waupaca, WI for seven years then moved to Duluth MN. He belonged to the V.F.W. and American Legion. He loved the sea, our beautiful country, traveling, and was a sports and history buff. He also enjoyed country cooking, reading, and playing cribbage, and had a dry wit. He has been joined in death by his brother Raymond (Tiger) Phillipsen who passed away August 31, 2011. James was preceded in death by his father Walter Reinke, brother Robert Reinke, grandparents, aunts and uncles. He is survived by his mother Virginia Reinke Phillipsen, Waupaca, WI, brothers William Reinke, Duluth, MN, Richard and Dawn Phillipsen, nephews Thomas, and Ryan, Waupaca, WI. Aunts Barbara Hennigar, of Denver, CO and Alyce Babcock of Rice Lake, WI. Carole Phillipsen of Montrose, AL and Inez Reinke of Olathe, KA. Military Honors and graveside services were held on October 10, 2011 at the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King, WI. Honors were accorded by the Military Honor Guard. Words of comfort and hope were offered by Pastor Paul Bowe of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church Waupaca, WI.
