New and veteran Nordic ski racers are invited to attend the Iola Winter Sports Club Ski Team’s open house and registration event.
The event will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday Nov. 6, at the club grounds, E398 County Trunk MM, Iola.
All interested middle schoolers (grades 5-8) and high school students (grades 9-12) are eligible.
The team has been in existence for 20 years and consists of middle school and high school athletes from Iola, Rosholt, Amherst, Stevens Point and Waupaca.
Local adult cross country skiers coach the team, which practices together three days a week on the club’s cross country ski trails. The team competes in races around north-central Wisconsin, hosts a race at the IWSC and competes in a state championship meet.
Skiers compete in classic and skating technique. Coaches are available to assist athletes in obtaining proper equipment.
All interested athletes and their families are invited.
