Laude, Margaret O.

Margaret O. Laude, age 93, of the Township of Pella, was called to eternal peace on Sunday, November 6, 2011 in Shawano. The former Margaret Buss was born November 13, 1917 in the Town of Grant, the daughter of the late Herman and Anna (Rades) Buss. She was a baptized and confirmed member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Marion. On June 10, 1939 she was united in marriage to Arlin Laude at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Marion. He preceded her in death on March 25, 1992. They farmed in the Town of Pella all of their married lives, retired in 1981 and continued to live at the Laude homestead. In 1986 they received the Century Farm Award. As of September 11, 2009 Margaret was a resident of Birch Hill Care Center in Shawano. She was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church, Shawano and Anna Circle of the ELCW. In former years, Margaret was active in Sunday school teaching. Margaret’s life was reflected in her love for flowers, gardening, landscaping, and restoring old things. In her scrapbooks, she preserved for her grandchildren the heritage of farming and the love of nature. Margaret is survived by: one son, Gerald (Cynthia) of Rochester, MN; and 3 grandsons, Gerald A. “Joe” (Melissa) Laude II, Michael D. (Carla) Laude, and Scott R. Laude. Margaret was also preceded in death by: 3 sisters, Marcella Radtke, Alma Rimestad, Lorraine Felkner; and 1 brother, Andrew Buss. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano with the Rev. Peter L. Sherven officiating. Burial will in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Friends and relatives may call for visitation at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano on Friday from 4-7pm and at the church on Saturday after 10am until the time of services. Thank you to Debbie, Barbara, Judy, Eldon, Nicky S., Mary K., Mary R., Ellen, Lois K. and many others for your help and companionship. Margaret also wishes to thank all of the wonderful nursing staff and management of the Birch Hill Care Center in Shawano for helping make her life pleasantly comfortable in her final months and years.
