Swift, Roberta J.

Roberta J. Swift, age 58, of Waupaca, WI, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at St. Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point, WI following complications from ALS. Her faith and perseverance was an inspiration to her family and friends. Anyone that meet Roberta would describe her as an amazing person with an extremely kind and loving heart. She was born in Monroe, WI on May 26, 1953, a daughter of the late Lawrence and Mildred (Ward) Tyler. Roberta married Harlan Swift on August 17, 1974 in Beloit, WI. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Marian College of Fond du Lac, WI and a Master of Science degree in Organizational Behavior from Silver Lake College. Roberta enjoyed providing patient care as a registered nurse in Janesville, WI, Winona, MN, and Oshkosh, WI. She found tremendous pleasure serving the Ministry Health Care community as Director of Mission and Education and Vice-President of Mission and Culture Integration. She had volunteered her time with the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults program at St. Mary Catholic Community in Fond du Lac and the Boards of Directors of the Fond du Lac Area Catholic Education System and Agape Community Center, Milwaukee. She was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Community in Waupaca. Survivors include her Husband, Harlan Swift, Waupaca, WI; Children: Matthew (Jill) Swift, Boston, MA and Erin (Cameron) Smith, Erlanger, KY; Granddaughter, Abbigeal Smith, Erlanger, KY; Brothers and Sisters: Lawrence (Geri) Tyler, Cortez, FL; Judy (Bruce) Belscamper, Verona, WI; Mary (Loren, deceased) Schroeder, Sun Prairie, WI; Colleen (William) Scott, Gambrills, MD; Linda (James) Schroeder, Fort Atkinson, WI; Tom (Anne) Tyler, Pewaukee, WI; 26 nieces and nephews, and 22 grandnieces and grandnephews. Visitation was held on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Fr. Brian Belongia led a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation was again held Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Waupaca. A Funeral Mass was held at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 7 with Bishop Robert Morneau, Fr. Keith Clark, OFM Capuchin and Fr. Brian Belongia officiating. Following the Funeral Mass a luncheon was held at the Ale House in Waupaca. Internment will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Fond du Lac at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 8. Memorial donations can be made to the ALS Association or Agape Community Center.
