Bonnell, Irene M. Ruppel

Irene Mae Ruppel Bonnell (nee Sheppard), age 84 of rural Pine River, formerly of New London, was born March 21, 1927 in Oshkosh, a daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth (Frank) Sheppard. She died peacefully in her sleep at home Sunday morning, January 1, 2012 surrounded by family after a valiant, lengthy battle with emphysema. Irene will always be remembered for her feisty spirit. Never at a loss for words, she would always tell you what was on her mind and never minced words. The family would like to express their most heartfelt gratitude to Agnesian Hospice, Cooperative Care, and Care Wisconsin for all of their help during the last few months. You were phenomenal, and we couldn’t have done it without you. She is survived by 1 son, Thomas (Evelyn) Ruppel and 2 daughters, Robin (Doug) Resch and Jacqueline (Ben) Milock; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and her sister, Edith (Jack) Stepanski. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Gordon Ruppel and William Bonnell, 2 sons, Scott B. Ruppel and David J. Ruppel, 3 brothers, Thomas and Dickie Sheppard and Harold Frank and a sister, June Sosnoski. A Celebration of Irene’s life will be held at the V.F.W. in New London, WI on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 4:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her name. The Ruminski Funeral Home of Redgranite is assisting the family with arrangements.
