Kempf, Leona Laura

Leona Laura Kempf, age 94, of Weyauwega, went to the arms of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 01, 2012. She was born on May 7, 1917 in Chippewa County, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Hirronymes and Minnie (Schoenick) Winter. On November 24, 1938, she was united in marriage to Norman F. Kempf in Poy Sippi. He preceded her in death in 2002. Following their marriage, they lived in the Town of Bloomfield until moving to Appleton. They owned and operated Appleton Mattress Company and later owned and operated the Thompson Hotel. They moved to Weyauwega in 1969. She was a member of St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church and their Ladies Aid. She enjoyed playing cards and dancing. She is survived by her children: Adele Kempf, Chicago, Il; Donna (Robert) Erickson, Spring Brook; Rosanne (Clem) Griesbach, Appleton; 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 4 brothers, 3 sisters and a grandson, Boyd Erickson. The Christian Funeral for Leona was held on Friday, February 3, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church in Weyauwega with Rev. Robbin Robbert and Rev. Dennis Lemke officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Weyauwega. Friends called directly at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Cline-Hanson-Dahlke, 200 S.
