Manawa comes back in second half

Manawa defeated Iola-Scandinavia Tuesday, Feb. 7, in a Central Wisconsin 8 Conference girls’ basketball matchup in Iola.

The Thunderbirds took a 10-7 lead into the second quarter and led 20-17 at halftime, but the Wolves outscored the home team 14-7 in the third quarter and 18-12 over the final eight minutes.

Kylie Johnson led I-S with 10 points, while Paige Berg added nine and Brooke Phillips finished with eight. Karina Welch led the way in rebounding with nine and Phillips had a team-high four assists.

Manawa’s Aimee Drath led all scorers with 18 points, including 12 in the second half, while Katrina Wilz and Paige Schernecker also finished in double figures with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
