Bacon, Marvin Allen

Marvin Allen Bacon, age 83, of Weyauwega, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at New London Family Medical Center. He was born on October 12, 1928 in the Town of Belmont, Portage County, son of the late Reuben and Alice (Sipher) Bacon. On November 24, 1951 he married Jacqueline Kamp in Dubuque, Iowa. She preceded him in death on January 4, 2011. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion Arndt-Bruley Post 176 in Weyauwega. Marvin and Jackie farmed in the Town of Royalton for many years. Most recently, they sold produce for over 20 years. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Weyauwega. He is survived by his daughter, Joanne (Jim) Knutson, Almond; two sons, James (Tanna) Bacon, New London, and Mark (Willa) Bacon, Waupaca; 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren: Erik (Stephanie) Knutson; Kendra (Peter) Thewis and their child, Starr; Stacey (Jeff) Myers and their children, Makayla and Mariah; Shandra (Brion) Buser and their children, James and Jenevieve; Sarah (Justin) Reese and their children, Eliyah and Zechariah and Titus Bacon. He is also survived by his brother Lavern Bacon, Wild Rose; and sisters: Doris Parse, Fremont; Audrey Rasmussen, Kaukauna; Janet (Richard) Nelson, Greenville; 2 brothers-in-law, Douglas (Dorothy) Kamp, New London; and Larry (Carol) Kamp, Waupaca. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife; 2 brothers, Donald Bacon and Burnett Redman; 2 brothers-in-law, Claude Parse and Eugene Rasmussen; 3 sisters-in law: Lucy Bacon, Lena and Adriene Bacon. The Christian Funeral for Marvin was held on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Weyauwega with Rev. Dennis Lemke and Rev. Robbin Robbert officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Weyauwega. Friends called at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
