Musky Magic set in New London

Wisconsin’s premier gamefish will be highlighted at the 24th annual Musky Magic Sunday, March 18.

The event, geared especially for the musky fishing enthusiast, will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at New London Middle School, 1000 W. Washington St., New London.

The daylong expo offers opportunities to learn about musky fishing from featured speakers, professional guides and tackle manufacturers.

Poolside demonstrations, door prizes, raffles and plenty of time to visit with exhibitors will round out the day. Dozens of manufacturers will display and sell their baits and musky equipment and on-the-water lure demonstrations will take place in the New London Community Pool.

Lakewood musky guide Shane Mason will speak at 1:15 p.m. His science background and out-of-the-box thinking style has served him well, whether fishing on Green Bay or the small pressured potholes of northern Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

Jim Saric, a member of the Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame and editor and publisher of Musky Hunter Magazine, will speak at 3:45 p.m. He has more than 30 years of experience fishing lakes, rivers and reservoirs from Minnesota to New York and all across Canada.

Admission is $8 for adults or $6 for ages 13 and under, with tickets available only at the door.

All proceeds from the event support educational programs at Mosquito Hill Nature Center.
