Irish Wake in Waupaca

The Waupaca Community Arts Board’s 12th Annual Irish Wake will be held on Saturday, March 17.

It will begin at 7 p.m. at Weasel’s Restaurant and proceed to T.W. Martin’s Public House around 8 p.m., Chez March Cafe around 8:45 p.m. and end at Simpson’s Restaurant at approximately 9:15 p.m.

Participants should put on their mourning clothes and walking shoes and bring an instrument if they have one for the family-friendly pub crawl.

As always, people may add the name of a departed loved one to the Annual Honor Roll. It will be expanded at each of the stops.

To add someone to the Honor Roll in advance, email [email protected].

This tradition also includes adding a memory to the coffin as a way to forgive someone and move on in life.

There will be a number of musicians participating, with songbooks provided. There will be live acoustic music at each stop, including a new special “Wake Song.”

Following the wake, Waupaca’s own Baba Ghanooj will play at Simpson’s until 1 a.m.
