Philip “Phil” K. Jeske, age 78 of the Town of Belle Plaine, Shawano County, WI passed away unexpectedly Sunday, March 4, 2012 in Parker, AZ. Phil was born on June 11, 1933 in Manitowoc, WI as the son of the late Theodore and Meta (Kattreh) Jeske.

As a young man, Phil received his Bachelors Degree from UW Platteville in Agricultural Education and then earned his Masters Degree from UW Madison with a Masters of Science – cooperative extension. Phil served his country in the United States Air Force from 1953 – 1957 and he continued in the reserves through 1960.

Phil was united in marriage to Lila Bathke on August 9, 1958 in Valders. The couple had 3 children and many happy years together before Lila’s death in August of 2003. Phil was later united in marriage to Joan Ferg-Rosnow on May 12, 2007 in Manawa.

He was a very active member at the Christus Lutheran Church in Clintonville; serving on various committees over the years. He was also active in the community as a member of the Clintonville American Legion Post #63 and was a past president and member of the Clintonville Riverside Golf Course.

Throughout his working career Phil was an Ag Teacher in Sheboygan Falls, a 4-H Agent in Waupaca, a Green Lake County Ag Agent in Berlin, and while in Clintonville he worked for Fox Valley Technical College as the farm business and production management instructor. Phil retired in 1990 at the age of 55. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, shopping rummage sales, curling, spending time at his hobby farm, and was an avid collector.

It’s safe to say if you knew Phil, you loved Phil. He was known well for his big “Teddy Bear” hugs and his sly smile. He would tell you what was on his mind, but also knew how to listen. Phil had a wonderful sense of humor, and was a character and an icon the Clintonville community will greatly miss.

Survivors include: his wife, Joan; his daughter, Lynn (Brad) Cupp, New London; his sons, Terry (Lisa “House Mate”) Jeske, New London and Brian (Jill) Jeske, Cedarburg; his grandchildren: Hannah and Ian Jeske; his sister, Helen Griffin, Manitowoc; his step-children: Peggy (Thomas) Paiser, Pardeeville; Becky (LeRoy) Cater, Eau Claire; Jeff (Nancy) Rosnow, Oregon; and Todd (Ann) Rosnow, Alpharetta, GA; his step-grandchildren: Keegan and Bryce Ziemer, Matthew Behmer, Joshua (Fiance, Robyn) Rosnow, Joseph and Jonathan Rosnow, Nathan (Kristen) Paiser, Nicholas Paiser, Sidney and Isabella Cater, and Lauren and Mitchell Rosnow. Also survived by many other relatives and friends. Phil was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lila, brothers Theodore and Ronald Jeske, and sisters Leona Harrison, Eunice Bastian, and Lucy Schroeder.

Funeral services were held Friday March 9, 2012 at 11 AM at the Christus Lutheran Church in Clintonville with Rev. Brian Crocker officiating. Military honor rites conducted by the Clintonville American Legion Post #63 and VFW Post #664 will follow the service outside of the church and interment will be at the Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King, WI. Friends called at the Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory in Clintonville from 4 – 7 PM Thursday and at the church on Friday from 9 AM until the time of the service.
