Republican policies attacking women

Ron Reynolds, in his March 1 reply to my letter about women’s health care, mentions that I blamed the GOP 10 times for their attacks on women’s health care. I had to limit myself in order to meet the word limits of these letters.

If Reynolds and other Republican leaders were to have their way, all women of child-bearing age in our country would be put in jeopardy as far as their reproductive health care is concerned.

Now, let’s talk about Congress passing a law that would forbid insurance companies from paying for Viagra. That would be a sure way to cut down on the contraception issue for many women I would imagine. But, I can also imagine that lots of our macho men both GOP and Dems would be up in arms.

To further carry on this farce, GOP Congressmen Issa, called a hearing on this health issue and all the panel members were men. Not one women was allowed to speak on the female aspects of this issue. When one female, Sandra Fluke, did testify, she was villified and slandered by the GOP mouth piece, Rush Limbaugh. So far, only one Congressman and one columnist, John McCain and George Will, stood up against Rush Limbaugh, who is himself a serial divorcee. No GOP leaders including Boehner, Romney, Santorum or Gingrich have stood up against Limbaugh because they are all afraid of him. So far, about 50 sponsors have left the Rush show and radio stations are starting to do the same.

Please, be sure to do as Reynolds suggests, and contact all your elected representatives and inform them of your feelings concerning this relentless attack by the GOP on the women in our society.
