Olson, Marcia Leon

Marcia Leon Olson, age 81, of Belleville passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on October 3, 1930 in Viola, Wisconsin to her parents Harvey and Juanita (Winters) Holmes. As a child Marcia was raised by her aunt Elisabeth and uncle John Holmes in Milwaukee. Marcia graduated from Madison East High School. On December 8, 1948 she was united in marriage to James M. Olson at Dubuque, Iowa. Marcia worked at Oscar Mayer in Madison for thirty years and retired in 1979. She was an avid reader and was instrumental in leading efforts to renovate and expand the public library near their lake home in Poy Sippi, Wisconsin. Marcia is survived by her husband James M. Olson of Belleville, WI, two sons, Michael (Debbie) Olson of Belleville and Jim Olson of McFarland, WI, and a daughter Elisabeth (Bob) Green of Madison, WI. She is further survived by her grandchildren: Michelle (Jesse) Richards of Belleville, Leslie (Brian) Cork of Belleville, Amber (Brian) Gauger of Belleville, Victoria (Allen) Hageman of Belleville, Christopher (fiance Taryn Amelong) Green of Madison, Lisa (fiance Jason Breunig) Green of Madison, and Kevin Green of Madison; great-grand-children Connor and Paige Richards, Malachy and Deaglãn Cork, Piper Hageman, and Violet Breunig. Marcia is also survived by her sister Mary (John) Kludy of Shelby, Michigan, brother John Holmes of Minnesota, sisters-in-law: Mavis Roh of Madison, Virginia Bonner, Margaret (Bernie) Cass, and Sara (Terry) Anderson; brothers-in-law: Emmette Egge of Viola, WI, Raphael Olson, Clarence (Evelyn) Olson, Daniel (Betty) Olson, and Michael (Lesa) Olson, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her aunt Elisabeth and uncle John Holmes, parents, sister Elisabeth Egge, brother Harvey Holmes, mother-in-law and father-in-law Clarence and Clementine Olson, brother-in-law Don Bonner, sister-in-law Jeanne Olson and Claire Olson. At Marcia’s request a private family service will be held at a later date. The family would like to suggest memorials be made to the Belleville Senior Citizen Program or the Poy Sippi Public Library.
