Errors hurt Indians

A pair of defensive errors turned out to be costly for the Weyauwega-Fremont baseball team.

Shiocton took advantage of the miscues to score a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh inning Monday, April 16, in an 11-10 Central Wisconsin 8 Conference win over the Indians.

W-F also dropped recent CWC-8 games to Amherst and Bonduel.

Shiocton 11, W-F 10

SHIOCTON – W-F took a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the second inning, but soon trailed 7-2 after Shiocton came up with three runs in the second and third frames and one in the fourth.

The Indians tied the game with five runs in the fifth and added one in the sixth and two in the seventh to take a 10-7 lead into the bottom of the seventh.

However, the Chiefs came up with four runs to get the win.

W-F outhit the Chiefs 13-5 and had home runs from Cody Case and Wes Alix, but also committed six errors.

Amherst 12, W-F 2

WEYAUWEGA – Amherst took a 9-2 lead into the fourth inning and held on for the win Thursday, April 12.

The Indians scored both of their runs in the bottom of the third.

Treg DeSantis and Alix had two hits and an RBI for W-F.

Bonduel 5, W-F 4

WEYAUWEGA – Bonduel’s Ben Wollenberg scored on a wild pitch in the top of the seventh to break a 4-4 tie Tuesday, April 10.

Logan Erdman had two hits and a pair of RBIs for the Indians.

W-F will host Stevens Point Pacelli at 4:30 p.m. today (Thursday, April 19) and host Manawa Monday, April 23.
