Wega boys, girls sweep invite

Weyauwega-Fremont’s boys’ and girls’ track teams won championships Thursday, May 3, at the Weyauwega-Fremont Invitational, while Iola-Scandinavia placed second.

Team scores for the boys were W-F (163), I-S (57), Shiocton (55), Port Edwards )48) and Starr Academy (14). Team scores for the girls were W-F (86), I-S (67), Shiocton (49) and Port Edwards (27).

Firsts for the Indians went to Trevor Fitzpatrick in the boys’ long (17 feet, 6 1/2 inches) and triple jumps (38 feet, 9 inches); Lizzy Abhold in the girls’ shot put (32 feet, 5 1/4 inches) and discus (103 feet, 11 inches); Luke Rohloff in the boys’ 110-meter hurdles (16.0) and 300-meter hurdles (44.1); Dustin Hanes in the boys’ 100-meter (11.8) and 200-meter runs (23.9); Corey Zeutzius in the boys’ 800-meter (2:06.1) and 1,600-meter runs (4:43.8); Ellen Schroeder in the girls’ 1,600 (5:34.2) and high jump (4 feet, 8 inches); Nick Thomas in the boys’ 3,200-meter run (11:06.8); Alyse Peters in the girls’ 3,200 ((13.02.2); Bryce Behn in the boys’ high jump (5 feet, 10 inches); Kaitie Gilbert in the girls’ 100-meter hurdles (18.4); the boys’ 400-meter relay (46.5); the boys’ 1,600-meter relay (3:45.3); the girls’ 400 relay (57.7); the girls’ 800-meter relay (1:58.8); and the girls’ 3,200-meter relay (12:11.3).

Seconds for W-F went to Miranda Reindl in the girls’ 400-meter dash; Thomas in the 1,600; Travis Ristau in the boys’ 400; Gilbert in the girls’ 300 hurdles; Schroeder in the girls’ 800; James Hoch in the boys’ 3,200; Dani Austreng in the girls’ high jump; Calvin Swanson in the boys’ long jump; Lauren Akey in the girls’ triple jump; Jacob Radtke in the boys’ shot put; Mike Howe in the boys’ discus; the boys’ 3,200 relay; and the girls’ 1,600 relay.

Thirds went to Radtke in the boys’ discus; Akey in the girls’ 100; Kelsey Gilbert in the girls’ 300 hurdles; Tre Blohm in the boys’ 300 hurdles; Behn in the boys’ triple jump; and the boys’ 800 relay.

Behn and Hanes placed fourth in the boys’ 800 and long jump, respectively, while fifths went to Kelsey Gilbert in the girls’ 100 hurdles; Blohm in the boys’ 110 hurdles; Andrew Wild in the boys’ 400; Logan Kobiske in the boys’ 3,200; Jane Beyer in the girls’ long jump; Dan Crist in the boys’ triple jump; and Nathan Burton in the boys’ shot put.

Firsts for I-S went to Dylan Robbins in the boys’ 400 (53.7); Amanda Hardel in the girls’ 300 hurdles (56.1): Emily Sether in the girls’ 800 (2:27.9); the girls’ 400-meter relay (4:31.5); and the boys’ 800 relay (1:41.4).

Seconds went to Nicole Huffman in the girls’ 100 hurdles; Tyisha Weed in the girls’ 100; Travis McKinney in the boys’ 100; Westly Peterson in the boys’ 800; Paige Berg in the girls’ discus; the girls’ 800 relay; and the boys’ 1,600 relay.

Thirds went to Jesse Gneist in the boys’ high jump; Ashley Melum in the girls’ 100 hurdles; Derek Peterson in the boys’ 1,600; Shelby Trzebiatowski in the girls’ 800; Devin Paulson in the boys’ 200; Morgan Frye in the girls’ high jump; Kennedy Peterson in the girls’ triple jump; Berg in the girls’ shot put; Claire Bestul in the girls’ discus; and the boys’ 400 relay.

Fourths went to Michelle Ellie in the girls’ 100 hurdles; Sarah Brumer in the girls’ 800; Melum in the girls’ 200; Paulson in the boys’ high jump; Bestul in the girls’ shot put; and McKinney in the boys’ shot put.

Fifths went to Frye in the girls’ 100; Matt Mathany in the boys’ 100; Huffman in the girls’ 200; Hardel in the girls’ high jump; Ellie in the girls’ triple jump; and Sam Buss in the girls’ discus.

Both teams will compete Saturday, May 12, in the Central Wisconsin Conference Meet in Iola. Events are scheduled to get under way at 10 a.m.
