W-F track teams place second at meet

Weyauwega-Fremont’s boys’ and girls’ track teams finished second behind Wittenberg-Birnamwood Saturday, May 12, at the Central Wisconsin 8 Conference Meet in Iola.

The boys finished with 141 points, while the girls had 94. Manawa placed fourth in the girls’ competition and eighth in the boys’ standings, while Iola-Scandinavia’s teams each placed sixth.

Conference champions on the girls’ side included Manawa’s Molly Loughrin in the 100-meter hurdles and Weyauwega-Fremont’s Ellen Schroeder in the 800-meter run. W-F and Manawa also won the 1,600- and 400-meter relays, respectively, while I-S’s 800-meter relay team placed first. Amherst’s Katy Rutz also won the shot put and discus events.

W-F’s Dustin Hanes won the boys’ 100- and 200-meter dashes, while teammate Luke Rohloff won the 110- and 300-meter hurdles. The Indians’ Bryce Behn won the high jump event and W-F’s 3,200-meter relay team placed first as well. The boys’ 800 relay team also finished first.
