Kernen, Clarence A.

Clarence A. Kernen, age 96 of Tigerton, passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at Iola Living Assistance. He was born on January 11, 1916, son of the late Otto and Anna (Poly) Kernen. On December 24, 1938, Clarence was united in marriage to Elaine Leitzke. She preceded him in death on April 5, 1997. The couple lived in Appleton for a short period before returning to the Wittenberg area where they farmed for over 22 years. In 1974, Clarence and Elaine retired from farming and moved to Tigerton. Clarence was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. Clarence is survived by a son, Randall (Clarice) Kernen, Iola; two grandsons, Todd Kernen, CA and Colin (Shenan) Kernen, Iola; three great-grandchildren: Wyatt, Hailey and Sadie. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ervin and Harvey. A funeral service for Clarence was held at 11:00 on Thursday May, 10 2012 at St. John’s Lutheran Church with the Rev. Matthew Uttenreither presiding. Clarence was laid to rest at Union Cemetery. Visitation was held from 9:30 until the hour of service at the church.
