Communities to celebrate Independence Day

Fourth of July celebrations will take place in Fremont, Iola, Waupaca and Weyauwega. Following are schedules for each community.
Fremont
In downtown Fremont, the celebration will begin on Sunday, July 1 with the Webfooters water ski show on the Wolf River at 6 p.m., the band “Cowboy & Buffalo Stomp” beginning at 8 p.m. and the “Big Bang Fireworks Extravaganza” display at dusk.
More than 1,500 shells will be fired. The rain date will be Monday, July 2.
The fireworks are being sponsored by the Fremont Area Chamber of Commerce, the town of Fremont, Baylake Bank and Farmers State Bank.
Then, on Wednesday, July 4, the Fremont Fire Department will sponsor a kiddie parade. It will begin at 10 a.m.
Iola-Scandinavia
The Iola-Scandinavia Chamber of Commerce will host a fireworks celebration on Tuesday, July 3. Activities will take place at Taylor Field in Iola. There will be softball games, music and food, with fireworks at dusk.
Waupaca
Waupaca’s annual Hometown Day Celebration parade on July 4 will follow a different route this year due to construction on South Main Street.
The parade will start at 10 a.m. and travel down North Main Street to Badger Street where it will turn east and end at State Street.
After the parade, there will be food and entertainment at South Park. A fireworks display is slated for 9:30 p.m. over Shadow Lake at South Park. WDUX FM 92.7 will play patriotic music during the show.
Weyauwega
In Weyauwega, the holiday will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 3. Activities will take place at the Waupaca County Fairgrounds. Weyauwega Trails will have games, a bounce house and concessions from approximately 6 p.m. until the time of the fireworks display, which will begin at dusk.
