Baerenwald, Burton

Burton (Burt) Arnold Raymond Baerenwald, age 68 of Iola Wisconsin passed away in his home on Monday July 16th, 2012 after many years of health issues. Burt was born in Appleton Wisconsin on March 4th, 1944 and was the only child of Verna and Oscar Baerenwald. He attended Appleton schools until Freshman year when he moved to Dale and later graduated from New London High school. He worked many jobs over the years including: his family farm, Red Owl (where he received top awards in human relations), Stokley Van Camps, many different apprenticeships (welding, pipes and piping, hydraulics, sheet metal, plumbing, and power plants). Burt also worked as a steward in the Teamsters union 563 and was a member of AFLCIO. He established two of the largest pet stores north of Milwaukee with the motto of “everything from a mouse to an elephant.” Burt was a drummer in many bands and was even on the road in a greyhound bus for 3.5 years with one of those bands. He enjoyed hunting and fishing his whole life and was an active member of the NRA and a member of the Iola Sportsman’s Club. Burt is survived by his daughter, Amy Rolfs; son, Ray Baerenwald; and son, John Burayi (He was extremely proud of all of them and raised them as a single parent). His grandchildren, David Stull and Peyton Rolfs (whom he loved very much, were his whole life and meant everything to him). He was preceded in death by his mother, father, aunts, and uncles. A Visitation will be held Friday, July 27, 2012 from 4-6 PM. at Voie Funeral Home in Iola followed by a Memorial service at 6:00 PM.
