The Iola & Rural Fire Department responded to a grass fire at 11:30 a.m. Monday, July 30.
The fire was located on the Lavern and Shirley Cady property off Pagel Road north of Iola.
The IRFD was assisted at by the Scandinavia Fire Department, Iola Ambulance Service and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
A total of three acres were burned and the firefighters were at the scene for over four hours.
Equipment fighting the fire included three IRFD trucks, a tender truck from Scandinavia, plus a DNR brush unit and bulldozers.
The fire was allegedly started from debris being burned on Sunday, according Iola Fire Chief Charles Fritz.
He noted that Waupaca County remains under a no burning ban.
“It’s still dry out there,” Fritz said.
