Lamberies, Viola

Viola Lamberies, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, age 92, New London, slipped away into the arms of her Heavenly Father as her loving family kept vigil at her side in the early morning hours on July 31, 2012. She fought a courageous battle for the last six months against congestive heart failure. Gone now is the pain and the fear, the endless battle to breathe. Viola was born November 7, 1919, in Milwaukee to the late Harry and Elizabeth Calkins. The family moved to Appleton when she was six years old. There she attended St. Joseph Catholic School. In 1939, she married Gordon, Kain Sr. (deceased). In 1944, she moved to Gresham to be near her parents where her step father was employed by the Chicago Northwestern Railroad. There she met and married Aloys Lamberies in 1946. He preceded her in death in 1978. They ran a 40 acre farm in Gresham before moving to Clintonville and settling in New London where she lived for the past 26 years. Viola is survived by three daughters, Florence (Merlin) Groeschel, Elizabeth Knaack and Patricia (Bill) Hermes, all of New London and a step-son Gerald (Phyllis) Lamberies, Shawano. She is further survived by 17 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Gordon Kain Sr. and Aloys Lamberies, two brothers and two children, Gordon Kain Jr. and Mary Lou (Kain) Knoke. Viola will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Her favorite pastime was playing cards, especially Rummy, Canasta, Sheepshead and Skip-Bo. She touched many lives along her way. All who knew her loved her. Viola lived her life surrounded by her angel collection, some of which followed her to the nursing facility, where their wings lit the night she left for her heavenly home. Now she is surrounded, not by porcelain angels, but by real angels in heaven. Dance with the angels mom. We will love you forever. Funeral Mass for Viola was held on Friday, August 3, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, New London with Fr. Willie Van De Loo officiating. Visitation was at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial is in the Union Cemetery, Tigerton. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the Staff at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital 2nd floor, the staff of Dr. Abouzelam and especially the staff at St. Joseph Residence and Heartland Hospice who cared for her and loved her and allowed her to die with dignity and not in pain.
