City hall expansion planned

A financial analysis, survey and tours are the next steps for the city of Weyauwega as it plans for a future expansion of City Hall.

“You’re really in the beginning steps for putting everything together. It’s in the capital plan but out pretty far.

“The schedule I looked at had between 2017 and 2019 with actual construction in the 2018 to 2019 timeframe,” Interim City Administrator Bill Forrest said.

His comments were made Monday, Aug. 6 during a joint meeting of the city’s Public Property and Purchasing Committee and ad hoc city hall committee.

In June, the Common Council voted to proceed with offers to purchase two separate parcels of property that are located next to City Hall, at a total cost of $100,000.

“The property is almost officially secured. We’re still waiting for a certified survey map from the (First National) bank, so we’re still waiting on the mall building. We closed on the taxidermy building,” Forrest said.

Deputy City Clerk Becky Loehrke said there was a surveyor at the mall building two weeks ago.

“As soon as we have the survey, we will close on the building,” Forrest said.

The mall building at 105 E. Main St. is being purchased from First National Bank for $65,000,
