Rotary seeks students for leadership program

The Waupaca Breakfast Rotary Club will be sponsoring three high school students to attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) program.

RYLA is Rotary’s leadership training program for young people. Through the Rotary Youth Exchange Awards, Rotary clubs bring together a diverse fellowship of young leaders from different home backgrounds, levels of education, religions and areas of extracurricular involvement to collaborate, learn and grow.

RYLA emphasizes leadership, citizenship, and personal growth. The conference brings out leadership skills in individuals through team building concepts and outdoor based activities that include trust building exercises, problem solving initiatives, and low and high challenge course experiences.

The three-day retreat will be held Oct. 5-7 at Camp Manito-wish YMCA near Boulder Junction, Wis.

The program is offered to students who will be high school sophomores or juniors during the 2012-13 school year.

The Waupaca Breakfast Rotary Club will pay the entire registration cost for the retreat. The students and their families will be expected to provide transportation to and from the retreat.

Students who would like more information about the RYLA program should contact Rotarian Chris Anthony at 715-572-6367.
