The Waupaca girls’ golf team opened the season Aug. 10 by placing 14th at the Thunder Invitational at Seymour’s Crystal Springs Golf Course.
Jessica Krawczyk led Waupaca with an 18-hole score of 114, followed by Natasha Hales (125), Robin Peeters (144) and Jayne Barber (156).
Team scores were Fox Valley Lutheran (374), De Pere (380), Appleton North (381), Appleton East (392), Marinette (395), Bayport (409), Green Bay Southwest/West (414), Ashwaubenon (417), Kimberly and Hortonville (424), Pulaski (438), Freedom (471), West De Pere (474), Waupaca (539), Wrightstown (543) and Seymour (588).
The Comets hosted the Waupaca Invitational and will head to the Kaukauna Invitational at 8 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17, at Countryside Golf Club, Kaukauna, before heading to an Eastern Valley Conference meet at noon Monday, Aug. 20 at Hilly Haven Golf Course, De Pere. The Comets will also host an EVC meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21.
