The Boathouse opens on Chain

Clear Water Harbor Bar and Restaurant in King opened The Boathouse this summer.

Located directly over the water, the former boat slip was built in the 1920s by the former owner of the business, Hobart Edmunds. After many years as a marina store, the building has been remodeled to provide space for private parties and special events.

Sisters Maureen Mondello and Caitlin Meighan are running The Boathouse.

“It’s a unique space,” Meighan said, noting that when the two overhead doors overlooking the dock and the bank of windows are open, the experience is like being directly on the lake.

“We’ve already hosted about 10 private parties,” Meighan said. “We had a couple of business meetings, a wedding rehearsal and a state tourism meeting.”

The ambiance of The Boathouse began drawing customers eveb before the remodeling was completed.

“The contractors were still working on it, and we had people waiting to use the space,” Mondello said.

Mondello said a family can rent the Chief Waupaca from Clear Water Harbor for a wedding out on the Chain O’ Lakes, followed by the reception at The Boathouse.

For more formal events, the tables can be dressed up with white linens and china, or customers can go with a more rustic look.

Clear Water Harbor caters the meals and can serve plated dinners or roaming hors d’oeuvres.
