Holman, James P.

James P. Holman, Waupaca, Wisconsin, age 85, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca, WI. He was born September 25, 1926 in the Town of Dayton, WI, son of Rueben and Adeline (Ritchie) Holman. Jim graduated from Waupaca High School in 1944. On February 11, 1949, Jim married Ione Throne at Parfreyville United Methodist Church in Waupaca. Jim was a dairy farmer in the Town of Dayton for most of his life. He sold vegetables from his truck in Shawano during the summer. Jim and Ione loved to travel and for almost 30 years, they were “snow birds” through the winter months, traveling to Bensten Grove in Mission, TX. They also participated in Prison Fellowship work for 15 years at the prison in Oxford, WI. Jim’s hobbies included rock hounding, square dancing, playing cards, and camping. In 2011, Jim and Ione moved to Park Vista in Waupaca and once there made a lot of friends with the residents and staff. Jim was a lifelong member of the Parfreyville United Methodist Church in Waupaca. He will be deeply missed by all of his loving family and friends. Jim is survived by: wife, Ione Holman of Waupaca, WI; son, Kirk Holman of Brodhead, WI; two daughters, Grace (Richard) Piechowski of Waupaca, WI and Ruth Holman of Menasha, WI; grandchildren: Sandy (Alan) Cordes of Waupaca, WI; James Piechowski of Milwaukee, WI; Alicia (Ben) Wallin of Brodhead, WI; Michelle Holman of Menomonie, WI; three great-grandsons: Jameson, Hudson, and Grayson Wallin. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rueben and Adeline Holman; a brother, John Holman; two sisters, Lois (George) Snyder and Lucy (Don) Bacon; and a sister-in-law, Velma Dawson. A Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Parfreyville United Methodist Church in Waupaca, WI. Reverend Robert Blackburn will officiate. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 9:00 – 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will be at Parfreyville Cemetery in the Town of Dayton following the service on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Parfreyville United Methodist Church in Waupaca. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
