Friday, Michael K.

“I wasn’t always perfect, but I had a perfect life.” – Mike Friday. Michael Kent Friday, Ogdensburg, WI, passed away October 5th, with his wife at his side. He courageously battled esophageal cancer for the past 23 months – and fought bravely until the end. Mike will be sadly missed by all that knew him. His contagious smile and his willingness to help anyone cannot be forgotten. He touched so many hearts in his 49 years of life. Mike took pride in his children, grandchildren, and family. He was an avid outdoorsman; hunting, fishing, cutting wood were his passions. His favorite place to be was in his tree stand waiting for the big one to come into range . . . He loved to spend time with family and friends around a camp fire up north or at home and could cook one of the best steaks on an open fire. He also liked spending time watching the packers, the brewers, the outdoor channel, and NASCAR races. Mike spent many years as a volunteer EMT with Iola Fire and Ambulance and Waupaca area Ambulance. He loved his 20 plus years on Northwest Area First Responders; he was always there to lend a helping hand to those in need. Mike also was a Stress Debriefing counselor for many years with Waupaca County stress debriefing team. Mike’s past work experience were at Sturm foods, Anthony Farms, Neuville Motors and Wisconsin Veteran’s Home in King, where he loved spending time hearing the stories of the Veterans that he took care of. It was at King where he met his soul mate, Missy. They were united in marriage August 2, 1999, in Charlotte, Vermont on Mount Philo overlooking the Adirondack Mountains. Mike was born in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin on May 21, 1963 to parents Arlyn (Red) Friday and Janice (Gray) Friday. In 1969 the family then relocated to Waupaca from Vesper, WI. Mike is survived by his wife and best friend, Melissa Friday; a daughter, Shayna Friday; a son, Jeremy Turnmeyer; step-daughter, Heidi Odom; two step-sons, Tim (Cassy) Odom and Terry Odom; two granddaughters, Mia Brier and Keirah Odom; his mother, Janice Friday; two brothers, Rick (Jeanette) Friday and Randy Friday; a sister, Tami (Tim) Friday-Buchholz; a step-brother, Todd (Sherri) Hanson; two step-sisters, Laurie (Will) Schumacher and Stacy (Brian) Roycraft; a half-brother, Kevin Hanson; step-mother, Yvonne Friday; brother-in-law, Thomas (Patty) Gibson; his grandfather, Elmer Knuth; three uncles, Jeri (Arlene) Friday, Larry Jepson, and Roger E. (Elizabeth) Gray; an aunt, Valarie (Daryl) Friday; and his godparents, Dave and Donna Krommenacher. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Arlyn Friday; a brother, Scott Friday; his paternal grandmother, Coryl Knuth; his maternal grandparents, Edward and Orrie Gray; an uncle, Daryl Friday; a step-brother, Lynn Hanson; half-brother, Dean Wallgenbach; and an aunt, Nancy Jepson. Mike is going to be missed dearly by his partners in crime, Mark (Rosebud) Rosenau and Charlie Peterson, also by his faithful side kick Cheyenne, and many friends and co-workers. Mike was the life of the party, you never knew when he was going to pull a joke or make you fall for some crazy story that only he could get you to believe. Up north was always an adventure when you were with him and he especially loved to visit the Chippewa flowage in search of that king musky!
