The season is still in full swing for three area high school football teams.
Waupaca, Amherst and Manawa each won their Level 1 playoff games over the weekend. Waupaca defeated Rhinelander 41-3 in Division 3 Oct. 19, Manawa handed Ozaukee a 28-7 defeat Oct. 19 in Division 5 and Amherst beat Northern Elite 64-7 Oct. 20 in a Division 6 matchup.
Waupaca (9-0) will host Rice Lake (6-3) at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at Haberkorn Field; Amherst (9-0) will host Marathon (7-2) at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27; and Manawa (7-2) will head to Fond du Lac to face 9-0 Fond du Lac St. Mary’s Springs at 7 p.m. Oct. 27 at Fruth Field.
Other local teams came up short in their Level 1 playoff games.
Mequon Homestead handed Hortonville a 42-3 loss in Division 2; Stevens Point Pacelli defeated Wild Rose 35-7 and Rosholt topped Tigerton/Marion 32-6 in Division 6; and Suring knocked off Almond-Bancroft 42-13 in Division 7.
