Snap-on donates equipment to Rawhide

Snap-on Inc. has made a donation of tools and equipment valued at $104,954 to the Rawhide Work Experience and Vehicle Donation Programs.

The donation was presented at Rawhide on Friday, Oct. 19.

The tools and equipment will support the programs that teach job skills to youth at Rawhide.

Donated cars, boats and trailers are repaired by the youth, and having the proper tools is an essential part of their learning and repairing experience.

“This donation provides a significant improvement in our ability to provide a meaningful work experience environment for Rawhide youth as they learn valuable job skills in the automotive technology field, stated John Solberg, executive director of Rawhide. “This donation continues to demonstrate a strong commitment on the part of Snap-on and its associates and franchisees to invest in redirecting the lives of at-risk youth and provide them with the state of the art tools and equipment as they learn.”

Snap-on has been a strong supporter of the Rawhide Vehicle Donation program since 1989. In that year, a large initial donation of tools provided Rawhide with the means to grow the donated vehicle program and provide training to youth in a real-world work setting.

Hundreds of young men have since been trained in the field of auto mechanics during their stay at Rawhide.

“Snap-on is proud to be able to further support Rawhide Boys Ranch in its mission,” said Alicia Smales, vice president and chief marketing officer for Snap-on Inc. “We are pleased to make this donation to a program that is dedicated to making a difference to those at critical junctures in their lives.”

In addition to this donation, Snap-on Sales Director Gary Groff and Snap-on franchisees in the area encouraged their customers to donate a used vehicle to Rawhide in recognition of their support of the Rawhide mission.

Located outside of New London, Wisconsin, Rawhide Boys Ranch emphasizes a faith-based residential environment as an alternative to juvenile corrections for court-referred and at-risk young men.

Rawhide is largely supported by donations of cars, boats, campers, and financial gifts.

Donated items are processed on grounds and provide meaningful, real world job training skills to youth at Rawhide. In addition, Rawhide provides services to youth and their families through community-based programs, such as outpatient counseling.
