Police seek hit-and-run driver

Police are seeking information on a driver who fled the scene of a crash that left one man seriously injured.

Waupaca police were called to the scene of a crash on County Road A at U.S. Highway 10 in Waupaca at 6:50 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5.

According to Waupaca Police Chief Tim Goke, witnesses reported a 1996 Dodge Ram failed to stop at the stop sign from the off ramp and collided with a vehicle driven by 49-year-old Thomas Abhold, of rural Waupaca.

Abhold was transported to Riverside Medical Center with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Dodge fled on foot. Goke said investigators have determined the Dodge Ram was purchased through an auction house and was not currently registered, so the driver is unknown.

It was further reported to police that the suspect was in the process of moving the personal belongings of a woman from Menasha to Stevens Point. however, she told police that she did not know the name of the driver.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the identity of the driver contact the Waupaca Police Department at 715-258-4400.
