Barn destroyed in Royalton fire

The cause of a Nov. 9 fire in the town of Royalton that destroyed a barn is not known.

The dairy farm, located at N3775 Ritchie Road, is owned by Bob Eder. The property and building are leased and operated by Jeff and Jennifer Lamie.

At 1:30 a.m. Friday, the Waupaca County Communication Center received a 911 call from a neighbor, advising of a possible barn fire at that address on Ritchie Road.

When the Weyauwega Fire Department and sheriff deputy arrived on the scene, the barn was fully engulfed.

Fire Chief Tom Cullen said the barn was a total loss and that along with the structure, there were four calves and equipment stored in the barn.

The cause of the barn fire is undetermined, he said.

The Weyauwega Fire Department was on the scene from 1:44-9 a.m. and was assisted with tenders from Manawa, New London and Waupaca.
