Holman, Helen B.

Helen B. (Olson) Holman, age 86, of Janesville, passed away Sunday, November 18, 2012 at Cedar View Health Center.

She was born October 29, 1926 in Iola, WI, the daughter of the late Oliver and Nora (Engebretson) Olson. On May 28, 1949 she married Wayne L. Holman at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Iola. Helen worked for many years for the Parker Pen Co. in the Tabulating/Payroll Dept. She then later worked as a Bookkeeper for Parker Pen Credit Union, now PCCU, from which she retired. She was a very active longtime member of First Lutheran Church, and was a tireless volunteer helping with most any function that needed workers. She very much enjoyed gardening and fishing. She and Wayne loved to travel, and enjoyed their many trips to spend time with their sons and their families! Helen was a wonderful cook, and most enjoyed cooking Norwegian dishes at holiday times.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne; her 2 sons, Philip (Patricia M.) Holman, of Chico, CA; Curt (Patricia A.) Holman, of Hortonville, WI; her brother, Kenneth E. Olson, of Iola, WI; her 3 beloved grandchildren, Allison (fiance, Matthew Sheperd) Holman, Matthew Holman, and Melissa Holman, her 2 God-daughters, Sharon Olson, of Roscoe, IL, and Diane Pett, of Milton, and by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her 2 brothers, Raymond Olson and Emery Olson.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, November 23, 2012 at First Lutheran Church, 612 N. Randall Ave., with Rev. Naomi Garber officiating. Burial took place in Milton Lawns Memorial Park. Friends called on Friday morning from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. at the church. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials in Helen’s name would be appreciated to First Lutheran Church.
