The Lady Bulldog varsity basketball is off to a strong start in defending their back-to-back state titles. New London beat Appleton East by a score of 39-22 on Monday, Nov. 26, and followed that up with a 68-29 drubbing of the Luxemburg-Casco Spartans on Friday, Nov. 30
New London 39, Appleton East 22
The Lady Bulldogs trailed 4-13 after one quarter, but tightened up their defense while outscoring the Patriots 19-3 in the second quarter.
The Lady Bulldogs never let the Patriots get close in the second half, outscoring them 8-3 in both the third and fourth quarters.
Mickey Roland led New London with 15 points, while Brenna Heise added 11.
New London 68, Luxemburg-Casco 29
The Lady Bulldogs stormed out to a 16-8 lead after one quarter, and led 38-10 at halftime.
The third quarter belonged to New London as well, as they outscored Luxemburg-Casco 18-9. The Bulldogs closed out the game by outscoring the Spartans 12-10 in the fourth quarter.
Mickey Roland scored 19 for New London, while Lexy Roland added 12. Heise scored 12, and Alycia Halvorson scored 10.
The Lady Bulldogs play at Hortonville at 7:15 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7.
