Fresh start for Collins, Lady Wolves

Pat Collins begins his first year as coach of the Lady Wolves’ basketball team this year, and will work with the team in hopes of improving last year’s 3-11 conference record and 6-16 overall record.

The Lady Wolves have three returning letter winners in Katelyn Langman, Paige Schernecker and Ansley Block. They are joined by seniors Megan O’Brien and Haley Gray.

Other varsity candidates include juniors Baylee Gorges, Molly Loughrin, Jordyn Sachjen and Megan Luedke. Sophomores Autumn Ferg and Ashlee Strebe are also expected to contribute.

The Lady Wolves lost Krista Braun, Aimee Drath, Nicole Pamperin, Katrina Wilz, Kali Draeger and Jessica Smiles to graduation.

“Our team is in a transition state. The players will be adapting to a new coach and a new system. We enter the season with a lot of unknowns, but the team will improve as the season goes on,” said Collins. “The conference is strong. Bonduel, Amherst, and Wittenberg-Birnamwood all have quality teams with many players returning.”

Collins said Schernecker, Langman and will each be key contributors and team leaders.

“Haley Gray and Megan O’Brien are two seniors who are rejoining the team after not playing in the previous season,” said Collins. “Our underclassmen will provide some great depth for our team and will improve immensely as the season continues.”
