Lewis, Kenneth R.

Kenneth R. Lewis of Waupaca, formerly of Neenah, age 95, passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King.

He was born in Waupaca on March 1, 1917, to the late Irwin and Esther (Schlicting) Lewis. On July 4, 1941, he married Ilda Knutson. During WWII he served in the United States Army Air Corps in Belgium and France as a radio operator, furnishing pilots with hourly weather reports. Kenneth worked for George Banta Publishing Company for over 30 years, and then later worked in maintenance at Fox Valley Tech in Oshkosh. He was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church Choir in Neenah for many years. He was the past adjutant of the American Legion in Neenah.

He is survived by: his wife, Ilda; daughters, Sharon (Peter) Bartman of Appleton; Sue (Ken) Weir of Waupaca; grandchildren: Jack (Margaret) Bartman, Kurtis (Tammy) Weir, Julie (Mark) Ban, Kim (Jerry) Juve, Kelly Weir; 9 great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Clifford and sister, Lorraine Arndt.

The Funeral Service will be on Friday, December 7, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Main Chapel at the Wisconsin Veterans Home, with Pastor Adin Crandal officiating. The visitation will be on Friday at the chapel from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. The Maple Crest Funeral Home of Waupaca assisted the family with arrangements.
