Founding fathers believed God was necessary

Our founding document, the Declaration of Independence, is only one page.

It contains these thoughts; the laws of nature and of nature’s God, endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, appealing to the supreme judge of the world, the protection of divine prvidence.

How can we let misguided leftists tell us God has no place in the public square?

Why do they put so much effort into the war on Christmas?

One-hundred years ago, communists, socialists, atheists, secular progressives and others on the left set out to fundamentally change this country.

They adopted a long-term plan to take over schools, universities, courts and eventually change the government.

To achieve their goals, they needed to marginalize religion and family life.

This began the war on Christmas and the propaganda to make Americans think our founders intended to exclude God from our public life.

They have made such progress, these progressives.

Some people are intimidated by one woman in Madison, who calls herself “The Freedom from Religion Foundation.”

The left’s drive to secularize America has shown great results.

In 1957, only 2 percent of Americans said they had no religious identification. Now, 18 percent of Americans have no religious affiliation.

German culture gave us Martin Luther and the first Christmas tree.

Pollsters in East Germany recently did a survey of religious attitudes.

They failed to find anyone under the age of 28 who believed in God.

Those on the left want our country to “progress” so we end up more like Europe. We must resist them.

If we allow leftists to kick God out of our public life, we cannot expect his blessings to continue.

Our founding fathers said we needed God.

We needed religious citizens to act in a moral way in order to keep freedom alive.

If our citizens were God-fearing, they would require less government prohibitions and less government control.

Remember this the next time you hear about some senseless murder-suicide.

Remember this the next time you see some gutless official who won’t call a Christmas tree a Christmas tree.

Merry Christmas.
