Amherst and Shiocton picked up recent Central Wisconsin 8 Conference boys’ basketball wins over Iola-Scandinavia.
Amherst handed the Thunderbirds a 53-35 defeat Dec. 14, while Shiocton defeated I-S 61-56 Dec. 11.

IOLA – A slow start and a three-point fourth-quarter hurt the T-Birds’ chances against the Falcons.
Amherst led 21-13 after one quarter, 33-24 at halftime and 43-32 after three quarters.
Kristian Welch led the T-Birds with 10 points, while John Prahl and Mike Blum chipped in with nine and eight, respectively. Caleb Glennon led Amherst with 20.
Shiocton 61, I-S 56
SHIOCTON – The T-Birds outscored the home team 14-8 in the first quarter, but the teams went into the halftime tied at 20-20. The Chiefs led 36-34 after three quarters and outscored I-S 25-22 over the final eight minutes.
Welch and Prahl led I-S with 21 and 12 points, respectively.
The T-Birds hosted Wisconsin Valley Lutheran Dec. 18 and will play in Marion today (Thursday, Dec. 20) for a Rock the Gym event.
