Dalum, Carl L.

Carl L. Dalum, age 89 of the Town of Belle Plaine, passed away Saturday, December 29, 2012 in Neenah.

Born on October 19, 1923 in Shawano, he was the son of the late Emil and Adeline (Dumke) Dalum. On November 10, 1945 he was united in marriage to Catherine Owen at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano. Carl lived in Shawano County most of his life and farmed the family farm in Western Shawano County. When not working, he enjoyed fishing and playing sheepshead.

Carl is survived by: his wife of 67 years, Catherine; 2 daughters, Priscilla (Eugene) King of Shawano, Paulette “Polly” (Kenneth) Bartz of Shawano; a son, Emil (Carolyn) Dalum of Shawano; 3 grandchildren, Carl King, Marvin (Sharin) Bartz, Myron Bartz; 3 great-grandchildren, Katherine, Caroline, William; and a brother-in-law, Marvin Krueger of Janesville. Carl was preceded in death by: a son, Joseph at birth; a step grandson, Tim Weso; his parents; and 2 sisters, Alice Koeller and Irene Krueger.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 7, 2013 at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with the Rev. Mark Harris officiating. Burial will be in the Greenleaf Cemetery in Marion. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the family asks that donations be made in Carl’s name to the National Kidney Foundation.
