School reunion planned

The Fremont Area Historical Society is planning the first ever Beaver Dam School Reunion.

The reunion will be held on Saturday, May 25 in the former school, which later became the Fremont Town Hall.

Elsie Mae Yohr is a member of the historical society, and she said the group is searching for the addresses of former students.

The old Beaver Dam School was built in 1884 and was open until 1958.

In 1960, the town of Fremont purchased the building for its town hall.

When construction of a new town hall began, the town and historical society began discussing the idea of the historical society leasing the building from the town.

Yohr said the historical society and town continue to research that possibility.

Those who attended the Beaver Dam School or know of others who were students there may contact Yohr at 715-258-8478, Karleen Ludtke at 920-446-2404 or email Matthew Voigt at [email protected] to get on the invitation list for the May 25 reunion.

The reunion is expected to include a potluck and an open house.
