Schimming to speak at GOP banquet

Brian Schimming, a Madison radio talk show host, will be the featured speaker at the Waupaca county Republican Party banquet at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Crystal Falls Banquet Hall in New London.

Schimming served as an assistant to state Sen. Richard Kreul., political director of the Wisconsin Republican Party and director of the Assembly Republican Caucus. He was appointed chief of staff to Assembly Speaker David T. Prosser, Jr., who later became a justice on the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

He served in several positions in the administration of Gov. Tommy Thompson, including executive director of the Wisconsin Conservation Corps and administrator of the Wisconsin Division of Housing and Intergovernmental Relations.

Prior to the banquet, the county GOP will hold its annual caucus at 3 p.m. State and local officials will be attending and refreshments will be served.

All members who have joined for the year 2013 at least 10 days prior to the event will be qualified to vote at the caucus. Memberships must be postmarked by Jan. 16, 2013.

Dues are $15 for an individual, $25 for a couple, $5 for students, and $200 for a lifetime membership. Memberships may be remitted to Waupaca County Republican Party, P.O. Box 541, New London, WI 54961-0541.

Tickets to the banquet are $25, also payable to the county party. The banquet will be preceded by cocktails at 5 p.m.
