Glocke, Ellen Emely

Ellen Emely Glocke, age 90, New London, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, January 17, 2013 at St. Joseph Residence, New London.

Ellen was born February 14, 1922, in the Town of Bear Creek, daughter of the late Albert and Augusta (Hass) Schoelkopf. She attended Bear Creek High School, where she proudly graduated with her 12 classmates in 1939. On November 10, 1940, she was united in marriage to Leo Glocke. He preceded her in death December 7, 2004. Ellen and Leo spent much of their married life farming in the Bear Creek area until they retired in 1979, when they moved to New London. Ellen had a special love for animals her entire life and made pets out of everything including the farm animals. Her most beloved pet was her poodle Missy who was still loved and was never forgotten by her. Ellen was a wonderful cook and we think no one has ever come close to baking an apple pie as good as hers! She loved collecting cookie cutters and had over 200 when she put down her rolling pin and retired from making her molasses Christmas cookies. Her big gardens were always filled with enough vegetables for family and friends and beautiful flowers of all colors and varieties.

She is survived by her son, Daniel (Pat) Glocke, New London; daughter, Donna (Russell) Pues, Readfield; grandchildren: Lori (Mark) Gonnering, Scott Glocke (special friend, Lori), Tony Glocke (Johanna) Brad Glocke, Paula (Rob) Spindler, Ryan (Erin) Pues, Aaron (Megan) Pues; great-grandchildren: Karly, Lindsy, and Blake Gonnering, Colton Glocke, Meghan and Aubrey Pues. Besides her parents and husband, Ellen was preceded in death by her son, Thomas; great-granddaughter, Lauren Grace Pues; two brothers, Herman and Robert and sisters: Lorraine, Lydia, Flora, Esther, and Celia. She was preceded in death by many other relatives and friends.
