New London led 11-7 after one quarter and 20-15 at halftime, but Oconto Falls fought back to within one point at 29-30 heading into the final quarter.

The Lady Bulldogs outscored Oconto Falls 11-10 in the final quarter. Brenna Heise made the winning basket with less than half a minute to play, and the Panthers missed a desperation heave from half court, as the ball clanged off the back of the rim and fell away from the basket, allowing New London to escape with the win.

Heise led New London with 16 points. Cambria Fitzgerald added nine, and Amber Pethke scored eight to help lead the team. Six of Pethke’s eight points came on 3-point baskets.

The Lady Bulldogs led 14-5 after one quarter and 31-9 at halftime. They outscored the Marines 10-6 in the third quarter and 11-5 in the fourth quarter.

Heise again led the team with 12 points, while Mickey Roland added 10. Megan Schlieve scored nine points and Lexi Roland added eight. Amber Pethke scored six, Cassidy Pethke scored four, and Cambria Fitzgerald added two.

The Marines struggled against New London’s high-pressure defense and full-court press, and the Lady Bulldogs capitalized on many turnovers to quickly put the game out of reach.
