Dyb visits I-S schools

District administrator candidate David Dyb visited the Iola-Scandinavia School District on Saturday, Feb. 16.

He is the I-S School Board’s choice to be the new d istrict administrator.

Traveling from Lodi to Iola with Dyb was his wife, Andrea, and their two sons, Austin and Ethan. They were given a tour of the district’s facilities by I-S Business Manager Jon Novak and Board President Tom Opperman.

Dyb is excited to be working on signing a contract with the I-S School District. The most exciting part, he noted, was the athletic opportunities the district offers for his sons.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity for me professionally and also for my family,” he said.

A freshman in the Lodi School District, Austin is currently involved in three sports – basketball, baseball and football. He is also very excited about the science courses offered at the I-S High School.

Ethan, a sixth grader, also has an interest in sports and science.

Andrea Dyb hopes to find a job working in the daycare field.

David Dyb is under contract as a middle school principal at Lodi until June 30, 2013. His potential starting date at I-S would be July 1.

“I’m looking forward to working with the board and the community,” Dyb said. “There is tremendous support from the community for this school district.”

“It’s quite an honor to be asked to be a leader of the community’s most precious resource – its future, its children,” he added.
