Comet forensic team advances to sectionals

Waupaca High School hosted a sub-district forensics contest on Feb. 25.

Following three rounds of competition, all team members advanced to sectional competition at Oshkosh West High School on March 25.

The Comet team has been made up of more than 40 individuals since its competition began in mid-January.

Since that time, the team has garnered five team sweepstakes trophies plus some 75 individual trophies.

For the sake of competition, a team consists of 35 entries in original, interpretive and acting events.

“We are so fortunate that we have a talented group of hungry, team-oriented individuals who share the spotlight with each other,” said Head Coach Ron Steinhorst, who coached at New London for 44 years before beginning in Waupaca in 2010.

This week, the team will challenge statewide competition at the New London Invitational and then will host its home tournament March 15 and 16.
