Adams, Altheda M.

Altheda M. Adams, age 85, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 11, 2013 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King.

Altheda was born in Iola, WI on August 9, 1927 the daughter of the late Palmer and Ella (Morey) Gunderson. On August 5, 1947, Altheda married Melvin Adams in Iola and together they owned the Iola Bakery for several years. After that she worked for many years at the Iola Nursing Home until her retirement. She enjoyed working in the bakery, at the Iola Nursing Home as well as cooking, gardening and shopping. Altheda was also known for her Norwegian baking. She was a member of the congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Waupaca for over 50 years.

She is survived by her children: John (Betty) Adams, Waupaca, WI; Richard (Michelle) Adams, Steamboat Springs, CO; Ann (Mike) Smith, Green Bay, WI; Linda (David) Miller, Scandinavia, WI and Cheri (Bill) Bosma, Puyallup, WA; her grandchildren: Brian Adams; Lori Wierzba; Travis Laszewski; Erica Adams and Jerad Miller; her great grandchildren: Gabe, Emma and Molly Adams; Cole, Logan and Breyah Wierzba and Harlo Adams and her sister, Dorothy Kalpinski, Iola, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Melvin, her brother Richard Gunderson and an infant daughter, Ellen Kay.

The Memorial Service will be on Saturday, March 23 at 2 PM at Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca. Burial will be later in the spring at Riverside Cemetery in Iola. A memorial visitation will be on Saturday, March 23 from 1:30 PM to 2 PM at the funeral home. Altheda’s family wishes to thank all the staff at the Wisconsin Veterans Home for their kind and loving care.
