Bulldogs lose to Marinette, Shawano

The Bulldog varsity baseball team had a doubleheader with Marinette on Monday, April 22, at Hatten Stadium. Marinette won both games by scores of 3-1 and 4-2.

The Bulldogs faced Shawano on Thursday, April 25, losing 10-2.

Marinette 3, New London1

In game one, both teams scored one run in the first inning. The Marines added one run in the third and one run in the fourth, while New London’s offense went cold the rest of the game.

Matt Ott was 1×2, Kevin McClone was 1×3 with an RBI, and Trevor Bryan was 1×3, providing New London’s only hits in the game.

Joe Schuster took the loss, pitching seven innings while allowing three runs on four hits with five walks and seven strikeouts.

Marinette 4, New London 2

In game two, the Marines downed the Bulldogs 4-2 when a New London rally in the seventh inning came up short.

New London and Marinette both scored one in the first inning, while the Marines added two in the second and one in the third.

Neither team scored until New London added a run in the top of the seventh inning. The Bulldogs couldn’t keep the rally going, and the game ended in a win for Marinette.

Ryan Wolf was 2×4, Matt Ott was 2×3, Hunter Muthig was 2×4 with 2 RBI, Jake Pinch was 1×3, and Joe Rickert was 2×3 for the Bulldogs.

Ott pitched 5 1/3 innings, giving up four runs on seven hits with two walks and five strikeouts.

Trevor Bryan pitched 2/3 of an inning, allowing no runs, no hits, no walks, and recording no strikeouts.

Shawano 10, New London 2

Shawano led 6-0 after two innings, as several errors hurt the Bulldogs. New London battled back to score two in the third inning, but Shawano pulled away by scoring one in the fourth and three in the fifth.

Wolf was 1×4 at the plate, while Ott was 3×4, Muthig was 1×4, McClone was 1×3, Pinch was 1×3, Bryan was 1×1, and Schuster was 1×2.

Bryan pitched 4 2/3 innings, allowing 10 runs on 12 hits with three walks and one strikeout. Pinch pitched 2 1/3 innings, allowing no runs and no hits with two walks and five strikeouts.
