Sixth-grade band to perform in Waupaca

The Waupaca Sixth Grade Band will perform its spring concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 9, in the Gerald C. Knoepfel Auditorium at Waupaca Middle School.

A group of about 100 students will perform “Fire Dance” by John Edmondson and “Festival Fanfare” by John Kinyon.

The Kinyon piece will be conducted by University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point student teacher Merry Planton.

It will be followed by the piece “Slindin’ the Blues,” which will feature the trombone section.

Parents and other family members of some of the students will then join the band to perform “The Banana Boat Song” by Bruce Pearson and Ryan Nowlin, as well as “Cowbell Rock” by Douglas Bradley.

The concert will end with everyone playing “On Wisconsin,” arranged by Paul Lavender.

The band is under the direction of Greg Biba and Shana Rogney. The free concert is open to the public.
